The passing of my good friend, Mason Allen.

Postby Sco Bro » Thu Jan 11, 2007 7:24 am

Mason (aka Stewy911) passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2007. I wanted to let our climbing community know that he has departed the world as we know it. I will post the visitation and funeral arrangements here.

I climbed with Mason on Saturday, along with Ox and Jr. We all had a great day full of the usual witty banter, big whippers, a send or two, a few Ale 8’s and a brief run in with a wood rat on Chickenboy. As sad as I am to discover that he is gone, it was a great last day together.

Mason and I had our fair shares of adventures these past several years. Some terrifying, some quite serious and most just plain old fun. I don’t know what I’ll find when I leave this world behind. Hopefully, whatever it is, Mason will have scoped out some good lines and worked on becoming a more attentive belayer.

To Mason, never afraid of the big whip and ready to give anyone a catch on any choss pile. I’ll see you again my friend.

My condolences to his family and close friends. I just met Mason at Muir a month ago, and he was all smiles and energy. I think I missed the opportunity to know someone special.

To Sco and all his climbing partners, may your friendship with one another carry you through.

The details of his passing are gray at this point, and ultimately won’t matter.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to all those whose climbing experiences were defined by Mason's presence and lives were enriched by his friendship.

I've had only a few exchanges of communication with him, but thought he was a swell guy. I hope that you find peace with this and healing with the many wonderful memories such as the one Sco shared.

I barely knew Mason, but he was one of the friendliest, and funniest, guys around. I am so sorry and will be praying for his family and his many friends

I only met Mason a couple of times, but as a new climber he showed me how great the climbing community was. I wish I had had a chance to know him better

I can't believe this...I used to see Mason all the time, but I guess it's been a while now. This is an absolute shock.

My inability to keep dates straight has been pointed out to me. Mason passed away on January 10.
