Ray, Did Ondra name it this? If so, cool. If not, I'll treat you and M to Miguel's if we can change the name. That route is too beautiful to be called Mr. Sandy. Love, lee

Maybe he named it after the storm that hit while he was here.

Cromper's mom's maybe. Shouldn't you be flailing on 5.9 hand cracks instead of layin down the spray as usual?

I agree Mr. Sandy is not a great name for a beautiful route. I bolted it and always felt the burnt orange feature near the bottom of a swirling solution pocket should be recognized. I named it Fire Pink after the five petal flowers-Fire Pinks- that grow at the base of the undertow in the summertime.

Absolutely love the name and it’s significance. For me, this is the most beautiful section of wall in The Red.

I emailed Ondra to ask him if he might consider changing the name. I explained the rationale for the name fire pink and he was very gracious in his response. He liked the name and the spirit behind it paying homage to the fire pinks that grow at the base of the under tow. He agreed and changed the name on 8a.nu and I told him that I would submit it to Ray for a change on this site. My thanks to AO.
