Cromper's Mom 5.5 X (Trad) ***

First Ascent: Dustin Stephens, Zachary Lesch-Huie in 2012
Length: 70ft
Gear: Biggest big bros you bros have got (report bad anchors)

The route used to access the top of the cliff actually turned out to be a damn good chimney, with a spectacular sunset view over the Bald Rock valley! Will be updated at some point with a belay anchor and a couple bolts on the unprotectable top half (5.4). In the meantime, this gaping maw stays true to its name... don't climb this expecting much protection up in there, maybe the largest big bro all tipped out at best. AKA Hotdog in a Hallway.
Moves: Chimney
Descent: Rap from tree
Stays Dry: Does not stay dry
Owner: RRGCC

Last time I 'climbed' cromper's mom without protection I got a pretty nasty rash.

you don't climb "up" Cromper's Mom so much as "inside"

I heard this rig is soft...but still life threatening if you blow it.

yeah definitely no harder than 5.4d. this sucker may warrant the fabled "triple-X" rating.

I've done Crompers mom a few times, once I brought a buddy with me. Truely X rated. The slick start fools you into thinking its going to be an enjoyable ride, but mid-way, it starts to feel like work. The ending, while you're happy it's over, is somewhat anti-climactic.

LoL, is there anyway that Jeff's comment can be added to the route description..?

Were bolts added to this? Also, any pictures of Cromper's Mom's slot?

Anchor and one bolt added on top, and are shared with the new bolted line on the outer portion of the chimney. Still PG13.

I'm assuming that Matt Fucking Jaggers bolted the new line. Why would a rap bolted sport route be PG13??

If you fall on the 5.3 terrain, you will still likely get hurt. Save it for the route's page.

Jokes aside, does this look like Cromper's Mom? I noticed 70ft in the description, and the chimney i bolted couldn't have been more than 50ft. Thinking maybe Cromper's Mom is in a different spot than the new line, or Dustin's judgment was off after playing around in Cromper's Mom for a bit.

Yes, you definitely bolted Cromper's Mom

I definitely didn't bolt Cromper's Mom, but thank you for confirming it is n the same chimney.

huh, different routes in the same chimney? This is some new sort of route making science.

You're bolting trad routes now??

Go Go Gadget couldnt even clip the bolts from Cromper's Mom, that climb is unaffected, except for the new bolt on the top and the anchor, which Dustin stated he was planning to have. You'd need four 5ft 2x4's racked up if you wanted to climb the new line without bolts. Sick route, super fun, and very unique for a sport route. I think you all will like it. If the red tag is still on it, just avoid topping out and sitting/jumping on the rock crown on top. It is open though.
