Where do they get 40 feet from? Close to 70.

Be careful with pro on this route. Back in the early 80s, when Friends were still pretty new, a friend of mine took a 60 ft ground fall (nearly hit me and the belayer on the ground) when 3 Friends pulled from the flaring crack as he sailed by. Pretty horrible. (For you younger folks, Friends were the old-school predecessors to Camelots, et al.)

Oh, forgot to mention he fell because a hold broke near the top, and he just popped right off the route.

Big gear is handy on this route. I racked my #5 and #6 tech friends as kind of a joke and ended up using both of them plus #3 and #4 camalot.
