The yardstick 11d sport at RRG when I was there. Great climb it was!

Does the coalition only care about torrent and the south lands? If so, how does the forest service open up military again? Or pocketwall?
pigsteak said on August 6th, 2007
pocket wall is state owned, not forest service..two seperate issues.

So, that somehow still doesn't answer my question.

The RRGCC cares about ALL climbing access in the RRG. If it weren't for the RRGCC all of Military Wall and probably all of the NBNF would be close to climbing. Pocket Wall was once on private land then the Natural Bridge State Park purchase it and thus closed it to is illegal to rock climb on KY state park land..period. The issue with this route and the others around it is lack of money. The RRGCC cares very much about getting these and other routes reopened but they have a limited budget. Maybe it would help to write the forest service and ask them why you can't climb on this route. PS I am not speaking for the RRGCC, I am just an informed rock climber who did his homework.

Thanks for the detail rhunt. However, I just don't see anyone doing anything with FS or SP due to PMRP. That is the disappointment. Not just this climb.

KY state parks have a blanket ban on climbing, so there's not much that can be done there, although people have tried arguing sense into them. Military is a compromise, and it's much better to be able to climb most of the routes than none. Currently the RRGCC has somebody working with the FS on their L.A.C. plan, which will hopefully turn out well for climbers. You could go to the meetings and write the FS if you're concerned, and the RRGCC could always use volunteer help for their many different projects, if you have any time on your hands.

The reason you're not seeing us do anything, is because you're not doing anything. That's the process, we can't change it we can only participate in it. Bill, Shannon, Jim, Dwight, and others have been driving to Winchester for these meetings regularly for 3 years. Those are workdays Bill sacrifices. If you were there, or even did a little bit of homework, you'd know this. This is not about budget or lack of effort on our part, it's about the USFS and their processes. So, if you think I wouldn't in a heartbeat trade any of the sport routes on the PMRP, many of the countless hours of emails, phone calls, paperwork, trail work, or sacrificed climbing days or other crap I do to secure the PMRP for just a little time with the Beenestalker then you're mistaken. I'm sorry if our efforts aren't catering to your expectations but some things are not under our control. So, fuck you and your sense of entitlement (especially when you are clearly not involved in these efforts), and fuck off for not using your username. Did that answer your question?

Also, I don't like no one touching my stuff. So just keep your meathooks off. If I catch any of you guys in my stuff, I'll kill you. And I don't like nobody touching me.
