Pretty soft for the grade... and good, but kind of nondescript. A few long moves to jugs...

Is it true?

This route is going to get harder because some clipping holds/rests are definitely going to pop off. Already, one move became longer because a good hold broke.

Would anyone be opposed to me putting a gong on this route? I was thinking of putting one hanging from the anchors so you could smack it!!
pawilkes said on August 6th, 2011
oh a gong would be soooo neat! they have a cow bell at the gym i climb at once in a while and I love to ring when i get to the top of the wall just so everyone knows how sick I am! do you think i could hang a TR on Shanghai so i could climb up there are ring the gong or is it one of those routes where you have to start at the bottom only?

Only if it is a 40" Sabian.

The finish is fun, but the ramp and the first part of the route make it hard to understand how this could be 5 stars

this site has long been an innovator when it comes to stopping star inflation. thank you for being part of our community of innovators.

It's also not much harder than Mama Benson, but I'm waiting for Adam Ondra's opinion before proceeding

Shanghai got the chop in the 4th edition.

I think the ramp actually makes it more fun since it adds some uncommon, easy scramblin. This route is one of only a few at Dark Side that stayed dry after a consistent week of rain. Very good climbing on nothing but positive holds with some really fun, long moves thrown at ya for a cool finish. Great route.
