Re: J & A Trail Day

I feel the same way. But one thing you CAN do - Is donate! It costs a lot of money to buy supplies and tools and feed the troops. And the good thing is it's never too late to chip in a few bucks!

Re: treadwall training

And what is a Maxi-pull? Attached is a pic. I'm sure you've seen these before. The one I built is slightly different than the pictures, but the idea is the same. The main thing is that it slopes down as it moves toward the end of the board. It keeps your shoulders and elbows in a natural alignment....

On a second note, does anyone know what is the budget option for non-camping accommodation? (sub-50US pp) Thanks all! Ramon from Spain Sorry - I just saw this. Linda has been very...

Sobriety check point

Last night it was at 715/11 I would expect another one tonight either there or somewhere else. If you come to Rocktoberfest (and we hope you do) and have some west 6th brew (and we hope you do) you have some options - you can camp with us (free with admission) or you can take the shuttle to Miguels ...

B&B Special this weekend 10/7 & 10/8

Need a place to stay this weekend? The Bowen Farm B&B has 2 rooms available. Normally $125 but Rocktoberfest special $99. Comes with breakfast for two! (And he's a great cook!) it's about 10 mins from slade exit towards Forrest service land. I might have already gotten the cabin so you can say hi wh...

Re: Life Insurance for Climbers

we looked at the return of premium option and it didn't make much financial sense. whole life was way too expensive (like several thousand a month expensive!). we found a good term policy using a broker - theirs was cheaper than the AAC. this is the only time when i really hope i'm throwing my money...

Re: Rocktoberfest

yep - you get a multiplier for harder routes. so if I climbed a 5.8 with 4 bolts and an anchor, I get 6 points. If I climbed a 5.11 with 4 bolts and an anchor I get 6 x 2 = 12 points (I can't quite remember what grades get what multiplier though). If I climbed a 5.11 with 4 bolts and fell after clip...

Cabin Rental - Need Suggestions

Was looking for a cabin in Cliff View but all the ones in my price range that are sold through Daniel Boone Trading Post are booked. Any suggestions for other people that rent cabins in Cliff View (preferably people that clean their cabins before renting them?! - I had a bad experience there once!)?

Re: Johnny & Alex Trail Day - July 23, 2016

We still need a LOT of help. As in we only have 30% of the people needed for the projects we have planned. 30% :-( We all want to hike on great trails, use solid steps, and keep our feet out of the mud. Please come out and lend a hand. It's a 1/2 days work and a full day of fun! Be prepared to sweat...

Re: Crag recommendations with shade and short hike

Eric, it was a discussion on my FB feed and now that I try to search for it, I can't find it. I only knew one of the people involved (hence the "heard of" part) but it was a discussion of climbing at the red. Perhaps they were climbing at a different area and I just assumed it was the red!

Re: Crag recommendations with shade and short hike

it's the humidity and the ticks that you really want to avoid. no getting around the humidity. the ticks are more prevalent at newer cliffs. PMRP has fewer ticks. I've heard of 3 people this year getting lyme disease so make sure you do a tick check.
