Re: Buddy checks, a thing of the past?

I check every critical point, every time. I do it in the gym and outside. People definitely get lazy. I also try to keep an eye one whether people get in the habit of holding the gri gri rather than the rope in the their hand...that is nasty one.

Re: Best RRG guidebook / late Nov temps?

Late Nov can get very cold if you are camping. I had some frigid nights in my car with a warm bag. The days can be pretty spectacular and the crowds die down once Miguel's closes!

Re: Military Wall - Closed Routes

Charlie is BACK!!!!!

Unfortunately I think I agree with piggie on the fact that the whole hardening idea was a scam on the bureaucrats part, trying to beat us with a war of attrition. And they essentially won. All I have to say is thank you to the RRGCC and the Access Fund for the PMRP!!!

Nice one Ray...I grabbed it as soon as I heard about it. It is the app I use most right after Mail, google maps, and NYC subway maps.

Maybe I can field test it soon!

the falcon guidebook for red rocks has some serious and potentially life threatening mistakes in it. it is one thing to be vauge it is another to get a 2.5 hour descent in the backcountry completely wrong.

the cultural value of that particular boulder, love it or not, far exceeds the valuce of flora and fauna in the dirt. those guys are total assholes for shutting it down and are really just trying to make the climbers uncomfortable in some half-baked idea that we will stop coming.
