Re: Life Insurance for Climbers
My experience is that life insurance companies will ask about climbing. They asked me about what kind of climbing, if I use ropes and helmets, etc.

I'll never forget when bcombs told us to look away as he made a hold "more comfortable".

Have we tried to get a wall manufacturer to loan the wall/sponsor this event?

I'd do $450. Pad alone cost over $150.

FS: bouldering wall, holds, mat
I have about 200 sq feet of 3/4 plywood with t-nuts, enough holds to cover it pretty well, and a 4x8x1.5 mat. I also have 2x4, 2x6, and 2x8 wood to frame the wall. Easily spent over $1000 on it all.
Asking $750. Pickup in Cinci. Willing to negotiate.

How to prepare for a trip to the Red...
The first thing you need to do is to hire a body guard to keep people from punching you in the back of the head. You also need to practice your "air climbing technique" so that when you are sitting around at Miguel's you'll be able to communicate with all of the other strong climbers. After all, wh...

Open source the online guidebook and put it on github?
I've occasionally wanted to poke around in the code and add a couple of features. Is there any interest in open-sourcing this project? I know it probably can't be done overnight, but I think it would be a good direction for the site.
Any thoughts?

Re: Guidebook app for Android/Blackberry
If you are writing native code for each platform...it's basically a rewrite. One is Objective-C, one is a flavor of Java. No direct code reuse. Plus, the app is essentially a labor of love, not a big money maker. Thanks, yes I am ignorant about this and many other things. Once you have the basic pr...

Re: Guidebook app for Android/Blackberry
Considering that it'd be a near rewrite, it's not terribly profitable, and Android tends to have less paying users, I'd say it's unlikely (assuming you're talking about the Wolverine app)

Re: Backcountry Camping
It can be hard to find a flat spot for tents. You may have to bushwhack a lot. I once found a small stream that flowed underground as a limestone cave, with enough room to crawl in it for a hundred feet. It's fun, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to really feel like you're in the backcountry be...
