Re: Climbing pack suggestions needed

I have a Deuter Guide 35+ that does me pretty well. It has enough room to fit a sport/ small trad rack, harness, shoes, jackets and lunch; has gear loops on the waist belt that I never use, an exterior helmet attachment that I used before one of the straps broke and a rope strap inside the lid that ...

Re: Roadside

Wait. You mean to tell me there's climbing at Roadside?

I thought it was just a place to take secret poos and stomp on plants.

Re: Needed: Trad shots for the RRG 4th Edition guidebook

As a working photographer it hurts when I see people giving photos away for free when I try and make a living off it. Maybe I'm in a dying business, but is anyone getting paid for these?

Hey, is that an elephant over there?

If you split it, let me know the going rate for the "rack" of slings and biners.

Re: Copperhead bites

From Merck:
Of the roughly 45,000 snakebites that occur in the United States each year, fewer than 8,000 are from venomous snakes, and about six people die.
Actually, you should say "Yup; and the only dangerous pillow fighting is the kind where you're using lead pillows"

Re: Copperhead bites

So depending on the pain, you should or should not get to the hospital? I am just thinking when you are at the crag and you get bit, should you leave immediately or just chill and wait? You shouldn't need to run to the parking area, drive 90mph on the parkway with your hazards on, kick in the door ...

Re: Copperhead bites

Plenty of studies have shown that baby venomous snakes have less control over the amount of venom they deliver and its often that they will deliver their entire venom supply with a single bite. The venom of baby snakes has also been found to be more potent and the most serious reactions have been f...

Re: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Where we live in Wyoming there are no county ambulance services. All services are privately run by the two hospitals in the 6,970 sq mi. county. Response times for the ambulance I work for can be as much as an hour and a half, up to three hours to definitive care. Luckily, there is rarely ever a ser...

Re: Probably a dumb question...

It's not that you "shouldn't", its just that most people don't. Sure, it's theoretically a time/ energy saver (and may keep you from backclipping), but some people (me, at least) will use the time it takes to hang a bare draw to determine if they are in a good stance or have the energy to clip the r...

Re: Bolts that pull out?

I'm still scared, though. Step 1: Grow a pair of nuts and stop being such a pussy. Step 2: Get your knowledge 100% dialed in so that when you get all elvis on your first runout you can forget your name, but not how to climb smart. Step 3: ??? Step 4: Profit! But seriously, your first lead fall will...

Re: CLIMBING GYM IN LEXINGTON

I've always thought a good low-space climbing gym would be designed similar to Idaho State Univesity's Holt Arena. http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/teams-stadiums-directory/big-sky-conference/idaho-state-bengals-holt-arena/ It's basically a domed arena that's not all that tall from the outside...
