Re: Where to live?

Well this has been settled. I got a job in Richmond, Ky. and will start next week. Thanks to everyone for the advice and info. It came down to either Vegas or the Red, and my job search in Vegas didn't turn up anything. Obviously, the best part about all of this is that I will never have to drive th...

Re: Hangboard / Campus board setup

Hang it from the joists by some 2x6's with bolts that go through both the 2x6's and the joists. You may have to double up the joists fro a considerable span to prevent sagging. Build your 15 deg. campus board on one side. Then opposite the campus board, run some 2x6's from the bottom of your campus ...

Re: Where to live?

Yeah, one of my concerns is being too far south and dealing with too much heat in the summer, as well as being too far north and having to deal with nasty winters. Lexington/Richmond fall into the roughly 37th or 38th parallel ( I think), which seem to me to contain the best weather in North America...

Re: Where to live?

Dustin: I guess I didn't realize there was any concentration of good sport climbing in Alabama and Georgia, so choc that up to my ignorance, but it seems like Lexington is a pretty central location in regards to the majority of good climbing east of the mississippi. Is there really enough climbing s...

Re: Where to live?

Thats correct, I am not female, and while "find out for yourself" is amazingly insightful advice, I figured I'd ask people who might actually know firsthand. One thing I learned in the military was that it's not necessarily what you know, it's whether or not you know who to ask. So far the feedback ...

Re: Where to live?

Yeah, I know being a more well rounded climber would open up even more options, but fact is right now, I'm not. Thats part of the reason I really need to live closer to outdoor climbing in the first place. Living in Michigan and climbing indoor 1-2 times a week sucks, and is not conducive to develop...

Re: Where to live?

Chattanooga is on my list, but I thought Bishop was mostly bouldering (?). I'm open to trad, but realistically right now I'm a sport climber with a trad rack thats been gathering dust for several years.

Where to live?

So what's the best climbing town to live in? I recently (finally) graduated college, I'm single, have no debt and am looking to move to a cool town within an hour of a great sport climbing destination. My first thought was Lexington, as I've done 95% of my climbing in the red, but I know there's a l...

Re: treadwall training

I have an old entreprises model, but it doesn't actually go horizontal, only to about 50 degrees. From what I understand the company only made about 15 or 20 of these machines back in the 90's to demo in the us. Apparently they were not all that successful and never went into production over here. I...

Does anyone know if Welcome to old Kentuck has seen a female ascent? I heard maybe Beth Rodden or Lynn Hill did it, but does anyone know for sure?
