Re: Nice Outside Online arcticle on Muir Valley

Patrick, while I can understand the desire to compare MV to the PMRP. However, I would say that the comparison is mostly not relevant and will not yield anything of value. Think of the differences... Well maintained gravel roads, ample flat parking that is not a mud pit, emergency response supplies...

Re: Nice Outside Online arcticle on Muir Valley

What does it cost to cover one of those roads with gravel? Just curios about the cost of rocks. I have always wondered.

Developers deserve way more credit than they get. This should be obvious.

Re: Curious

I'll have to second everything Brent wrote. The Bronaugh Wall project looks significantly harder than anything else. The longer you climb the more desensitized you get to crazy hard climbs. This thing made me feel like I was staring at 5.14 10 years ago when I first started climbing.

Ignorance or volume

I've noticed over the years a steady decrease in basic knowledge of ethics and safety amongst our fellow climbers. And with the emergence of more and more gyms, we have A LOT more climbers. So I'm wondering, Is it the ignorance of newer climbers leading to more accidents or just more climbers leadin...

Re: ACCESS TO ROADSIDE - closed unttil further notice

We always talk about charging money and then we end up talking about KY use laws. The USFS charges you to park overnight and that is all. I think a climbing venue could charge you to park at a site. A climbing venue could put up a sign saying something like pay 5$ to park; climbing, hiking and moun...

Re: ACCESS TO ROADSIDE - closed unttil further notice

Why not charge to climb in the PMRP or muir? I don't understand why it has to be free. Charging would either thin the crowds or make shitloads of money, both of which would be nice.

Seriously, why hasn't this been tried?

Re: Guides at Military today

So ask. It is unclear to me if any attempt was made to work into the climbs. I take kids climbing all summer. Now, granted, the places I go aren't exactly the Red River Gorge, but if any other party is there, then I try to be accommodating. The issue here, IMO, isn't large groups, but group behavio...
