Re: Best Hot Weather Crag?

Dissenting opinion: When it's simply hot the dark corridors and perpetually shady crags (e.g., deep end, shady grove, undertow [to a certain extent], boneyard/midnight surf, darkside, phantasia, etc.) are great. Stay in the shade and have a great time. However, when it's hot AND really humid those s...

Re: RRG Whipper videos on Rock and Ice website

i doubt we disagree about anything. climbing is dangerous. it would be great if people received solid mentorship before transitioning outside. it would be great if everyone built an extensive library of skills before pushing limits, maybe especially when trad climbing. it would be great if everyone ...

we get it - you're smart, other people are dumb, it ain't like it used to be. blah blah blah. half expecting for this thread to turn into a rant against millennials.

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report

saw a kid (soft) deck at the zoo the other day. he was trying to clip the last bolt on scar tissue (5th? - the one ppl clip from a right hand pocket), fell with slack out, and landed with his feet on the ground. in other words, he decked from about 40 feet. i would say he was a few feet of slack awa...

Re: Partner& some practical info - 20 october - 22 november

average route? i don't know, 8 draws plus anchors. 12 draws will get you up the vast majority of routes. leaving draws up is generally frowned upon, though it does happen sometimes. best to plan on cleaning every time out. november can be cold, yes. as in, below-freezing at night. you will definitel...

miguel's has wifi, but it's been really slow at times this year, especially when it's busy. i sometimes do work down at the red and the rockhouse is usually a better bet for consistent wifi.

Re: Chicken Shit Anon's

it's, like, the internet 'n stuff. complaining about anonymous trolls is like complaining about the amount of porn. nothing will change. some websites have done away with comment sections because of this, but so long as they're an option (and it sounds like they will be on here forever) then ppl wil...

Re: Crag recommendations with shade and short hike

curbside, left side of the gallery, and phantasia for extremely short hikes. but, i mean, you'd have to work really hard to find a hike in the red that's longer than 15 minutes.

Re: work hard - climb hard

haha, yeah. might as well give the work hard guy one too. although then it would look like he's looking at internet porn, which....actually, could i get a shirt of a guy watching internet porn? that represents my life more closely than either working hard or climbing hard.

Re: work hard - climb hard

if you make one that says "Work Just Hard Enough to Not Get Fired / Climb Because It's Fun Regardless of Grade" let me know.

ooh, or, "Drink Hard / Climb Hungover" would also work for me.
