I've been to Mallorca and it was amazing. We went at the end of September/begininning of Oct. That seemed to be perfect timing. It was the beginning of the "off" season, so things were a bit cheaper and less crowded. It was still pretty warm and the ocean was nice. The soloing is great, but don't fo...

There are a few copies being passed around Rifle (thanks Dave). . . Everytime I flip through the old guide book I feel homesick, everytime I flip through the new one I feel it's no longer home. There are SO many new routes and faces. But it's always good to see your old friends, both people and rout...

The news article on Jen is in the newest mag. They don't have that one up on the site yet. The thing on Bentley is in the last issue. Both are very good! It's always cool to see people from the southeast showing up in the mags.

Climbing Magazine Sold

Just wondering what people thought of this: New York, NY, January 5th, 2007 — Skram Media LLC, a platform company led by Mark Crowther, the publisher of Urban Climber Magazine and UCTV, announced today that it has completed the purchase of Climbing Magazine and climbing.com from PRIMEDIA, Inc. (NY...

I am out in Rifle and will therefore not be able to make it to the comp. I just wanted everyone to know that I talked to J the other day on the phone (Kenny helped with understanding). Of all the questions he could have asked, he wanted to know what the hardest thing I've done out here is! I nearly ...

Your best bet is probably to find someone who will be there the same time as you and buddy up with them. The crags are somewhat, to very, far from Miguels, walking in not really an option. When are you going to be there? What crags are you looking to go to? Also keep in mind that there are a lot of ...

As to the issue of leaving fixed gear. Have you ever looked at the Madness Cave? Would you like to clean one of those routes? I say no thank you. I have grown to greatly appreciate fixed gear. As a matter of fact, most of my gear has become fixed gear at one place or another. The issue is, fixed gea...

as far as i know, it's totally cool to use draws haning on a route, especially if the person to whom they belong is not present. I put up draws for the day/season all the time with the understanding that anyone who wants is free to climb on them.

You also may want to look into the length of Omaha Beach. It's the longest in the cave; it's my understanding thaty you will not likely get down on anything less than a 70.

I talked to the guy who decked later that day at Military and he said that he was at the bolt and his belayer dished out the slack but he hadn't grabed it yet. Obviously he fell and hit pretty hard. He landed on his back and cracked his head. They went to the hospital where he got 5 staples in the b...

Bill did Swing Line last year, but I'm not aware of any others. I know that this is a trad route but was still curious, has Welcome to Old Kentuck seen a repeat?

I would have to agree with several of the posts. Communication has always been my biggest grief with the RRGCC. Other than that I think they are doing a gretat job. Information about clean-up events is often not posted in places where it is accesable to everybody. For example, I lived in the Red for...

My two sense on cheater stones and stick clipping is simple. If I can't reach the start holds I go find a rock or stand on a rope bag, unless there are other desent holds to start on. I'm 5'4" and can't always reach the start, why should I not be able to get on the climb just because I can't reach t...
