Re: Buddy checks, a thing of the past?

Definitely not a thing of the past. Always check. Always. If anyone thinks they are too experienced to need to check, they won't be climbing much longer. Mistakes can and will happen. Ask John Long. The same goes for cleaning. Weight your knot or your ATC while still in direct every time. Everyone I...

What kind of climbing are you looking for? I don't have a lot of mileage there, but I can tell you there is all types of climbing there. Most of it is unpublished and does not have a ton of development trail-wise. If you want a guide book, check out Chris Waterford's Dixie Cragger's Atlas. http://ww...

Re: A Not So First Ascent - What did we climb?

Thanks for the writeup, Jesse. I really hope someone knows some history on this route. We have had one guess of Duke's Day at Pinch-em Tight, however I do not believe this is it. While not a classic, I feel it is a worthwhile route. If anyone is over at Jewel Pinnacle and wants to get another decent...

Re: Trail Maintenence and Power Tools

If accepted, does this mean that RRGCC will be able to set up official trail work days in DBNF? That is, with the approval of Forest Service.

Re: Trail Maintenence and Power Tools

Thanks for the info. I will be very interested to hear how the MOU is taken. I will leave off any work more than clearing small deadfall until I hear otherwise. Continued good relationship with Land Management is certainly more important. Most of the crag trails I travel frequently in National Fores...

Trail Maintenence and Power Tools

I have recently been trying to get out to do a little trail maintenance on some of the lesser traveled crags. Just some simple deadfall clearing and drainage work, nothing big. A couple of weeks ago while working at Pebble Beach, I came across a larger fallen tree (poplar?) that left my little bow s...
