Re: Breakins 2011

Do you also leave the car unlocked and windows rolled down? Where are you climbing this weekend? lol...um, the New...yeah, the...

Re: Trad Apprenticeship

I've done a few 5.12 trad routes since learning to climb sport, and it actually all feels soft now. Trad grades, if anything, are overinflated by taking into account the subjective "mental factor". You'd pick it up fast, and you can be proficient enough to be safe on day 1.

Re: Analysis of a Fatal Fall

Scary. I had a scary, similiar moment while working on what became "Better Red Than Dead" with SCIN, Beta Bill, and Jeff. The roof is an offset crack, with the lower offset side having a very sharp, curling lip. I fell near the end of the roof, and in horror, watched the rope saw back and forth on t...

It's Dario's route... been up for awhile (2 yearsish?). Secret crag... that's all you gotta know. :)

Re: Climbing Gym

if their is anything you don't know, could you post it to the Jesus H thread? That's my point Clif. I don't know a damn thing about running or yoga... because I don't need to. Why spend all the time trying to do all the other bullshit you've read will help (weights, running, p90x, yoga, cross train...

Re: Climbing Gym

Funny, I would avoid a gym that has yoga, treadmills, weights and the like, unless it is my only option. I think most climbers are making a huge mistake by spending so much time getting "stronger", and very little to no time getting "better". I've yet to see a single person gain more by doing yoga,...

Re: Climbing Gym

I've heard a lot of the best climbers in Louisville climb at Hesters(bouldering gym) and I always wondered how they keep their endurance up for the Red if they aren't climbing routes. The answer is: A. bouldering/power training builds endurance (according to Eric Horst), and B. 4x4s. Power training...

Re: Climbing Gym

Fair enough. I'm single minded when it comes to sport, so it never even occurs to me that there are other sporting interests out there.

Re: GoPro first person climbing videos

I've actually always thought about selling beta maps to the classic 12's and easy 13's, called "Cliff Notes". That would be a pretty sad commentary on today's breed of climbers. Although I might pay for that magic Iniquity beta. One of the mags used to have a section called "Betamax" (I think), tha...

Re: Climbing Gym

RQ is a good gym, but I've been to many that are better (and more that are much, much worse :)). Something we need in Cincinnati or from RQ possibly is a gym that is a gym and not just a spot to climb. Some things I've seen in other gyms like full weight equipment, regular yoga classes, multiple tr...

Re: GoPro first person climbing videos

Hire yourself out at the end of fall and spring. Climb peoples projects for them so they can rehearse the route in the off seasons. Id be interested for sure. Shit, I'd be all about taking your money for that one! I've actually always thought about selling beta maps to the classic 12's and ea...
