Re: Found items at Muir

Sorry, Mary, but your guidebook has not been turned in. We will keep an eye out for it and post here or PM you if it is found. The jacket posted above has been picked up. We believe the person who left the guidebook was from Chicago. We'd like to get it back to him, so if anyone knows Ken Worthy or ...

Re: Muir Valley Support

I understand your viewpoint, Ted, but what you are apparently unaware of, is that those emergency stations and bridges you decry saved the lives of two climbers last year, and limited the extent of the spinal chord injury of a third. A small consideration in comparison, but parking improvements were...

Re: Muir Valley Support

OK stix, I agree. Let’s be clear. Rick and I did NOT threaten to close Muir. We have put considerable personal resources and a lot of determination into KEEPING MUIR OPEN, and we intend to continue doing so. I cannot control the different tones you are getting from different sources, because I did n...

Re: Muir Valley Support

Thank you, Michelle. Rick and I really appreciate your having taken up this cause for Muir. We would like to stress that when you say "...needed response from climbers simply hasn't been seen" that doesn't apply to all climbers. Although the average donation per climber has been pennies per visit, m...

Re: Parking lots finished at Muir

Yeah, Clif, that photo is what it felt like as we were raking the last load of gravel. Thanks for all of the supportive comments, here and elsewhere. Big thanks to Isaac McShane, Roger Van Damme, Tim Yates, Carol Yates, Paul Shallabarger and Kathryn Tomilleo for spreading tons (233.19 tons, in fact)...

Re: Volunteers Needed for Muir

Thanks to the great crew who worked so hard on such a beautiful climbing day Saturday. Nearly 1,000 square yards of Geotextile installed and 227 ton (nine tri-axle truckloads) of crushed stone spread mostly by hand, in the new MV overflow parking lot.

Re: Volunteers Needed for Muir

I'm sorry, I had the date wrong in my original post. It should have been November 26, instead of 25th, which puts the work day on Saturday. I realize travel and family plans will make it difficult for some people to volunteer during Thanksgiving weekend, but there will be other volunteer opportuniti...
