Got tired of the bulky 2' slings and use 2' cords now girthed to my harness. I've been using lockers, but will probably switch to regular biners soon. No question this can handle a meager 166lbs of static weight which ends up being 83lbs per safety line. I've seen a few people use quickdraws for the...

This is definately not something I wanted to hear again. I thought the vandalism was finally coming to end after many good reports the last few years. I've never had a problem yet, thank goodness, on any of my past hiking trips and hope to stay clear during my future rock climbing trips. I would gue...

Scott and Paul were at Kings working out a new route on the face just left of the Chimney Sweep cracks. Andy, we need to find you a different job so your...

I've been to Jackson Falls several times now and that place doesn't inspire me to climb like I thought it would. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool place, it's just different. My regular crag is Kings Bluff in Clarksville, TN. That place is great and has been key to helping me learn the sport. I've jus...

I see Thu & Fri, but need partner this weekend 1st and 2
I'm wanting to check out the Gorge this weekend, anyone interested in showing a Gorge climbing newbie around. I've only been climbing for 7 months so I'm only comfortable leading up to 5.8, but I'm fine with TRing a few levels above that. Just started Trad, so leading 5.5/5.6 Trad is fine, but willi...

Check, check again, recheck, check... one last check... check again......ok ready to go... check one more time.... go. So far it's worked for me. Far as others, I'm already in the habit of checking them by glancing over while their tying in and such. Do it enough and it becomes easy to spot errors. ...

I'm thrilled to see a bit of spark still left there... already asking about people who have made it back to climbing, very good sign  When I cut my thumb the doc said I would never play the piano again. I just told him "So... never knew how to play anyway". See docs don't know everything, he t...

Soloing is just as enticing as anything else, but there are only those select few who can't resist that urge and just have to go for it and eventually start pushing their limits. It's mysterious if you haven't ever done it which always leads to doubts and questions. Before I ever begain roped climbi...

I don't think I have ever met a perfect dog...but I swear the next time an owner does the "get 'em" to their dog as I'm approaching it, I will pick up a stick and use it...or even better, a rock. Forget the verbal threats. LOL!! When I first read this I assumed you were going to use the stick or ro...

Another reason.....
Well, here is yet another negative to stack on the pile of reasons not to bring a dog (if your not going to be attentive). What about the other people within your group. Do they appreciate having to be dog monitor while your climbing or belaying? If they are friends, they aren't likely to tell you t...

reasons why dogs end up off leash
The reason dogs always end up off their leash is because their owners get fed up dealing with them. When they are on a leash they whine and whimper and annoy their owner until they get frustrated and finally let them free. Walking a dog on a trail is pain in the rump because they go every which way ...

Sorry J.H. didn't mean it to sound as though I was making light of your situation, yes it was an assault. If a dog bit me the owners would not only be paying for my doctor bills they would be paying for my new climbing gear that would be on order after Christian sues them for me. I bet if you walked...
