Hey mate,
I'm back living in New Zealand now, developing the 100m limestone crags in my backyard. :-( Cheers for the reply!

That's a great Idea, Captain Static. I'll do that. I spoke to a real estate agent about the place. It seems that the property is still for sale for $300k, and that although there were offers made, the sales didn't go through for various reasons, including liability. As for purchasing the crag as an ...

I think a lot of the guys on this site have probably already seen this place before, and maybe even have checked it out. The first time I did was 9 years ago. I went out with my father, intending to have a guerilla climbing session. The rock was so chossy we quickly gave up. We also had to stash our...

 You're right about the county mounties--they're some of the most bored and corrupt in the state. If you decide to have a look yourself, I recommend parking in the bank down the road and walking to the crag. The base used to be quarried a few decades ago, so for years I'd just assumed that it ...

Hey Mike,

Sorry about not getting back to you--I was waiting to see how much it would cost to get my flight moved back a week. They were gonna charge $380, though, so that rules out a last minute trip to the Red. Bope the weather cools off a bit for you, cause it's murder out there now!

Best,
Ryan

Thanks Defender, much appreciated! We're talking rural enough that the nearest grocery store is 25 miles away, but I think I might be able to find something at the court house, maybe. I think that, if played right, I could likely get access to go climbing there myself (coupl'a friendly house calls w...

Acquiring access

ISO advice from people more experienced in establishing access to crags on private land All my life, there's been a steep, limestone crag about three minutes away from my home in southern Indiana, and it's always been cordoned off and surrounded by "No Trespassing" signs. However, I recently learne...

I dropped by Rocksport the other day hopin' to talk to Rob, but the place was swarming with little kiddies!! I fled in terror (didn't see anybody leading at the time, anyway.) I'd be by this week, but I'm flying to Philly to visit a friend on Tuesday. Muscatatuck is a great asset if you happen to li...

G'day, I'm in town from New Zealand and I'm going stir crazy here! There's a massive, steep, abandoned quarry practically in my backyard, but I can't even find anybody to hold the rope! I'd be keen for anythin at this point, be it Jackson Falls, Hemlock Cliffs, or the Red--heat is not a factor, as I...
