Re: Burned kiosk on the PMRP

Saw on the news last night that there have been several other arson events nearby (e.g., playground in Stanton).

Re: Cops setting up checkpoints

toad, don't be alarmed, but i'm going to say something which, after the initial revulsion/retching period subsides, i want you to honestly consider.... you should become a cop. I have considered your suggestion, and after giving it careful thought I have concluded... ... that I would rather hang gl...

Re: Cops setting up checkpoints

Whether or not it's legal is one thing. Whether or not the cop will try to give you a ticket (for whatever reason) is another. Too bad for joe-visitor: fighting any ticket from the DBNF cops requires multiple court appearances against a federal prosecutor, amidst a court system that processes bullsh...

Re: Cops setting up checkpoints

Sounds like typical DBNF bullshit: harass the people who go out of their way to enjoy the Red.

Re: The Economics of Climbing

Yeah... better questions might be:

How many hours do you drive for a climbing trip? How often? etc. You're going to have to be the one who busts out the calculator.

Re: Nice Outside Online arcticle on Muir Valley

FOMV is pretty nebulous http://www.friendsofmuirvalley.org/ ...group of individual who pledge to contribute to the continued development and preservation of Muir Valley . That sounds like a whole lot of we do whatever the hell we want. And I'm okay with that because the Webers are awesome people, b...

Re: Nice Outside Online arcticle on Muir Valley

What does it cost to cover one of those roads with gravel? Just curios about the cost of rocks. I have always wondered. I'm pretty sure it's expensive. Using a quick calculation it may cost about $7,000 to cover gravel, plus whatever else the heavy machines cost. But I'm sure they just apply it to ...

Re: Bolts: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Okay, I hear you. Climbing is inherently dangerous, blah, blah, blah. And, every situation is unique. Make your own decisions. But, I have never pulled a bolt -- is a rusty head an indication of a rusty bolt/sleeve? I would assume so, but IDK. Also, I have heard plenty of times, "it's just a spinne...
