Re: Question for the CC

Is it time for the semi annual banning of Joe from this website? Will they serve cake this year at the event?

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report

About 30-40 pounds seems to be the turning point, after that the difference is too high for ATC'ers to maintain control on big falls, particularly if they are in danger of hitting a roof or something while being dragged up. Then find a heavier belayer or use a belay anchor. Do you really want that ...

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report

All the irrationals and double standards in climbing kill me. People say they prefer a gri gri over and ATC because if in the event a belayer hits their head they won't drop the climber. I very unlikely scenario. Yet they are not wearing a helmet to prevent the unlikely scenario that a climber could...

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report

This last saturday I was at the gallery finishing the day off with a few nice relaxing 10s over by the far right side of the wall and there were atleast 2 people belaying 20 ft from the wall. I tried to tell the one guy that he should maybe stand a bit closer to the wall but was greeted with a snid...

On going weekend non-crowded cliff report

As the title states, share your weekend/days at the cliffs that were not crowded. I climbed at Wall of Denial on Sunday - we were the only 3 there all day, with the exception of some lost hikers looking for eagle point buttress. Define not crowded anyway you'd like. But for me it's a cliff free of a...

Re: Hurt Knee

yeah I tried a knee brace I have laying around but it made it feel worse but I think I need to try a different kind. I one I have isn't open at the knee cap and so i think it puts the wrong kinda pressure on my knee joint. As for foot work - it was pretty shitty - I was sketched out doing the move a...

Hurt Knee

Ok since everyone else is whining about their latest injuries, I thought I would join in. Two weeks ago, I tweaked my right knee doing a heel hook/knee bar on my new super secrete 5.17c 5 star classic. My knee made a pop sound as it was being forced away from my body during the move and now hurts wh...

Re: taking it outside...

My 2 cents - forget about leading outside until next spring. Get outside with experienced climbers and do a ton of top roping and cleaning. Use the gym as a tool only, not a means to an end and not a gauge to how hard you can climb outside. As you have found 5.10 inside is NOT 5.10 outside. - Lead r...

Re: Brad, they are calling you out.

I too use to think the FA on a bolt route is a bit trivial compared to a trad line but now after bolting a line I see differently.

Re: The ongoing weekend idiot report

Yep not only is "decking" happening more, it's also become more accepted. I would say most climbers with less than 3 years experience think "decking" is a normal and expected part of climbing. I am glad this thread is still going. It reassures me that there are still people who know the difference b...

Re: Upper Back Pain

I get the same thing all the time. Stretch by laying back a door opening. Exercise by arm rolls - arms out in a cross perpendicular to your body - doing small rotations all while trying to squeeze your shoulder blades together. That and just take advil and eventually it will feel better.
