Well, when the revisionism is in the right direction... The ability to change your mind in the face of solid reasoning/facts is a rather valuable, and rare, thing these day. I'm all for celebrating it.

Re: Lowering on anchors.

I don't worry about the cost as much as I worry about people actually keeping up with it. "People" include you. Do your part to make sure the anchors are good on the routes you climb. Even if just a small minority of people does that, everything is fine, because those chains can take thousands of l...

Re: MV parking change and it's effect on your climbing

There is not an option that I will likely do. I will climb at MV more because I will assume the crowds will be less. Well then, you will be one of the people who ensures that the crowds stay the same. It is undeniable that Muir Valley has built itself up over years as a place that is comforta...

Re: RRGCC Toilet Input Needed

Of course poo will eventually decompose even if it is on the surface. But it will take longer. And rene has valid points about the fact that between the vegetation roots, and the rocks, and the slopes, the areas where someone could dig a proper deep hole for pooping is really small at most of the cl...

Re: Which bolt has taken the most falls?

I think it would be different if you are talking about outright whips (falls while trying/going for a move), or about takes on bolts. The busiest routes at the red, if you use the spray distribution in the online guidebook overview stats as the basis for making this statement, are 5.10a's (~16,000 r...

Re: Attention New School climbers

Go climb someplace else then, you come off as a crusty old timer and your ego is actually way worse than the people you are criticising. Like JR said most people are comfortable climbing on other peoples draws and everyone doesnt need to conform to YOUR style of acceptable climbing, things change a...

Re: Attention New School climbers

Since we're complaining I've witnessed one and heard of another climber on red tagged projects. The one I encountered had no explanation as to why they were doing it. I've heard of some, too. They didn't know they were doing anything wrong, or potentially-sometimes-dangerous, they were just psyched...

Re: Attention New School climbers

Gee... someone is really pissed. Are you really so out of touch with the world that you do not know that new climbers travel in packs, usually consisting of only 1 or two leaders, barely capable of dogging to the top of the route, and a whole bunch of people who want to top-rope the same climb after...

Re: lost rope at deep end

I guess lost is the wrong term. My kids were climbing at the other end of the crag and we packed up in the near dark. So we forgot it below the route Half Mast. The next day was a rest day so we didn't realize we didn't have it until the following day. When I went back up there it was gone. Since i...

And it is awesome! Love the crag stats, and the breakdown of rain/sun/stars/grades per crag all together up front, for at-a-glance decision making.

Re: Rocktoberfest 2015 - New Stuff this year!

How beginner friendly are the beginner clinics (Footwork, Learn to Lead, Intro to Trad)? Would they be appropriate to someone just starting to climb who can do 5.8's in the gym? In my experience (I have been volunteering to drive people to/from clinics and help out during the clinic as needed for s...

Re: Good walls for kids

Hey guys, Anyone have any recommendations on any good places to take small kids climbing aside from Muir Valley? My son is 3 and half and has really shown a lot of interest in climbing and is not content sitting on the ground anymore while we climb. I have a harness which fits him well and have spe...

Re: Fixed Rope North 40

Hey All, I was climbing at Amarillo Sunset and noticed a pink fixed rope on a new (not in the 2nd edition guide book) bolted route at North 40. There were draws left on the first and second bolts and the fixed rope seemed cut at about the height of the second bolt. There was what seemed to be dark r...

Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off

I dont want to name any names in particular, but I am sure many of the local business owners would be happy to let you store your "stuff" somewhere safe at there location. One or two people asking to store things at a business location, sure. If you get friendly with the owner, they would do you a ...

Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off

I'm surprised a business hasn't opened a small area of their place, put in lockers, let customers bring their own locks(or rent them)and rent the locker(of various sizes) for a couple bucks. Brings people to your biz for up sales and helps fix an issue. Less easy big scores and the thieves go elsew...
