Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off

So I guess it is safe to assume that the break ins are back! My policy is leave doors unlocked and my truck empty. The thing is, it is not really an option for most people. Let's say you had to bring a laptop with you, becuase, you know, some people need to. You can't leave it at Miguel's, not real...

Re: Partner(s) needed between 8/7/15 - 8/19/15

While there would be people at Miguel's, and you probably would be able to get partners and rides to crags, once you are at Miguel's, August is the off season, and in my experience you are less likely to have single climbers hanging around looking for partners at this time of the year, more likely t...

Solar Collector and Darkside. Tops of some routes were wet. But rock felt decent, no seepage. Obviously it wasn't good condition to be in the sun.

Re: SO, how bad is the weather, really?

There's about a foot of snow on the ground at Miguel's and it rained for 12+ hours before that. It's also still snowing a bit. :( I'm not sure how climbable it will be by Saturday. Ugh! Thanks, I guess. :( Definitely doesn't sound like great conditions overall, but maybe a few sunny routes here and...

SO, how bad is the weather, really?

Anyone currently at the Red or close nearby? How bad was the snow yesterday/this morning? Do you think it is going to be climbable by Saturday?

Re: Miller Fork guidebook preview and sample!

Thanks Josephine! We'll start taking orders in the summer. We're planning to go to press in July. Thanks Spike! Those maps have been fun to make. It's pretty exciting watching the 3D model take shape as more and more GPS data is collected. As far as a cheap black/white guidebook, the online guidebo...

Re: Hanging the Draws vs. Hung Draws

do i understand this? --for all the people who vote no difference they've never climbed a toprope on a harder climb than there lead limit? i mean a slightly different question but doesn't that make the assertion of 'no diff' seem incredible? I actually don't find this incredible at all, especially ...

Re: Hanging the Draws vs. Hung Draws

What if I hang my draws in the first go, and send in the second go, with draws already hung? :)

If you left your draw on the first bolt of the Suffering...

... at the Monastery, it is now hanging on the 2nd bolt, without interfering with the perma-draw on 2nd, and should be easily retrieved. I wasn't sure whether to leave it at the anchors, or somewhere else, but didn't want to leave the aluminum draw on 1st. FYI, your draw was hanging in the first bol...

Re: Where should I climb this weekend (Oct 10/11/12)

Is there a list of clinics somewhere for people who don't intend to attend the other festivities? I copied this from rocktoberfest registration page, hopefully this is up-to-date: Adv - Harder, Better, Faster – Regan Kennedy and Josh Muller This clinic will show you how to break through those plate...

Re: Nearest airport to RRG?

So, if I rented a car for my stay - which I'm going to - the cheapest would be renting it from either Louisville or Cincinnati and drive to RRG. Thanks buddy. Man, I really look forward to climb in the red, rock formations look amazing and the angle of the some of the routes? - WOW. 2015 is a long ...

Re: Pull ups

Has anybody actually bothered to look at the results? Here is the summary: 1) hardly anyone at the Red climbs 5.10s. You should go to 5.10 wall to find some solitude in the upcoming months. 2) the fraction of people doing 11+ pullups is roughly the same at every grade. (the second part is act...
