Yay, I'll get my name in the guidebook, finally! I'll climb it, too, as long as it is easier than 5.5... and no sandbagging! My ego is delicate and prone to melting like ice cream in KY summer.

Re: wall name

What I am getting at, it would be fun if the "Girlfriend Route" was the new 5.14, and "Thug Paradize" was a 5.4 next to it. Are you crazy? Fun?! Climbing isn't about fun . If you're climbing to have fun you are sorely disillusioned. Go back to the "fun" gym from whence you came. And take your flowe...

Is Vine Wall and dumber than Fruit Wall? As long as it is easily pronoinceable, and not something like "idiotconstipatorgetsobsessed.com wall", who cares! ... but then again, it will just get abbreviated to "idiot wall", so... that's O.K. too. Oh, and speaking of names, I have a request for route d...

Re: How many quickdraws?

@JonnyC Good point. And the dogbones are used, older than the rope, and have falls on them. I guess knowing that as the climb progresses, the quickdraws are increasingly more redundant. However, there is only one rope. BTW - I found this pdf regarding old ropes. It helped relieve my worry. http://w...

Re: Let's get strong and lean!!!

I wake up every morning at 5:30am and do my Olympic lifts: power cleans, jerks, and snatches. These exercises are absolutely crucial for climbing. Immediately after the workout, I'll have a half of gallon of bullet-proof coffee with Vanilla-flavored Muscle Milk powder. (It's very important that you...

Re: Spray list

You go to the route you want to add to your spray, and click on the little button below SPRAY that says "add". Then you record the date and type of your send, and hit save. You're welcome.

Re: Who would volunteer to save the hemlocks?

Hmmm.... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imidacloprid_effects_on_bees My first thought was that this could be minimized by using a proper timing for hemlock treatment, The effect on bees is from the bees foraging in the insecticide-infused pollen/nectar, right? So if you treat the hemlocks after the...

Re: Best Routes for Really Really Really Short Climbers

You've got to pick and choose, and I am assuming TR, so just pull them through the reachy sections. Face up to That Crack at Left Flank is little-kid friendly after the start (belayed ~5yolds up that without anyproblem, after the start) The 5.9 at the trail to Darkside. The 5.8s at Muir Practice wal...

Re: Is a 142ft rope too short for climbing? - beginner

I thought my wife and her friend was experienced with there talk about rock climbing so I started checking into it as a new hobby for the spring and found that they know absolutely nothing, of course I'm clueless too so it makes for a very frustrating situation. I'm basically youtubing, googling an...

I prefer not to climb on the rope when the temp is below 32, but I have climbed in the sun with temps in upper-20s, and it was not bad.

Re: Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow (Weather help)

If you are willing to travel around, that makes things easier. Obed is definitely an option if the weather at the Red gets too crappy. That's what we did last year, when the weather at the Red turned to snow at the end of March. Obed was only slightly warmer, but the roofs there really protect the w...

Re: Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow (Weather help)

You could very well be fine. I have climbed at the Red last weekend of Feb/1st weekend of March in a tank top. You could also be completely screwed. I have seen Spring Break being messed up (mid- to late-March) with snow on the ground. Bottom line is, if that is your only choice for vacation time, a...

Re: From the gym to the crag: The revenge of the gumby

1)Safety. This is obviously a big issue that can be sub-divided into many more. But If I had to boil it down, I would say, If you can still count the number of times you have been outside, yourself, you shouldn't be bringing climbers newer than yourself, and trying to teach them stuff. Even more nar...
