Re: Dumb things climbers have said

At the base of my project...nervously rehearsing the crux moves before I start to climb.....A guy peers over the cliff at the top of the route and calls down, "Hey! Do y'all have to climb RIGHT THERE? 'Cause we were fixin' to rappel off these shuts."

Re: Sucking at Torrent Falls- Bare Metal Teen

I am not stopping, just not training hard. Climbing 2-3 times a week on 11a/b and under. Mountainbike 20 to 30 miles per week. Just a matter of emphasis. Still doing push ups, dips, theraband bar exercises, massage.

Re: Sucking at Torrent Falls- Bare Metal Teen

Oh well, one hung BMT for the gillianth time. Going to train a little, lose 5 lbs, and get back to it in April. Switching over to mountainbiking for the winter. Let my elbows heal up.

Re: Sucking at Torrent Falls- Bare Metal Teen

Ok, Meadows is correct...do not rest after the pumpy 5.5 slab approach to the route or you will not be able to claim the send 8)
verdict? ..... Still not pumpy.

Re: Sucking at Torrent Falls- Bare Metal Teen

Haven't been on FD, but Mama Benson is not pumpy. Climb the ramp. Sit down and rest. Climb huge incut holds...do a 5.11b move to the last bolt...then two long moves off small crimps to jugs at the anchor. As JR describes it, "sucky ramp, scrappy crux."

Re: Sucking at Torrent Falls- Bare Metal Teen

I haven't sent BMT yet, just tried it one day last year with one hang. But I didn't think it was any harder than 12a. I actually felt that I have been on multiple 5.12a's here at the Red that felt harder to me than BMT. I used to have this opinion about BMT as well. People who had sent it would the...

Re: Sucking at Torrent Falls- Bare Metal Teen

Mamma Benson is a cakewalk compared to BMT pump wise. Why can I get to the top of Chainsaw and Mama Benson w/ no takes, but not past the 5th bolt on BMT? The thing is so pumpy! My hands are already opening by the 5 th or 6th bolt. Going to try and rest with my leg on the ledge at the 4th bolt next t...

Re: Preseason injury

Wait 6 weeks and let your ribs heal. You have tour entire life to climb, as long as you back off when you have an injury. Bob Camps told me that. He was 77 and still climbing 5.12's.

Re: Preseason injury

Thanks! I am icing, climbing easy stuff, massaging, doing forearm exercises, redoing the ergonomics of my work station, sleeping in wrist braces so as not to curl my arms up at night. I think it is helping.
