Re: Preseason injury
It is funny you should mention that. My finger pain last season and elbows this time....all started after I took a part-time job that involves reading on the computer, typing, sitting in a bad chair all day. Never had these problems before that. Although I don't really have time to go to pt, with tw...

Re: Preseason injury
Good questions. When I hurt my elbows in May, they hurt when climbing or gripping. They also hurt sleeping, driving, talking on my cell phone and hurt to the touch...all at the bone on the inside of my elbows. I climbed 2 more weekends 3 days in a row each at bob marley, drive by, torrent, coyote cl...

Re: Preseason injury
So... You all are saying if you have severe pain and cannot even grip a glass or a doorknob, I should have kept climbing on it? I couldn't pull at all, even on a 5.8. Everyone said to rest it until the pain was gone. I am back to doing the reverse wrist curls, and the hammer exercises. Been doing pu...

Preseason injury
So....If I had tendinitis in both elbows (inside the elbow--golfer's elbow) at the end of Spring season and could not sleep due to the pain.....Stopped climbing COMPLETELY (also no weights, pull-ups, NOTHING) for 2.5 months....been sleeping in wrist braces every night for 11 weeks.....just tried to ...

Re: Gumbies are like honeybadgers
During my first few years of climbing (early 90's), we thought July was a good time to go up to the Red and climb. Also remember 100+ degree days at Little River Canyon's Crazyhouse wall--bakes in the sun all day. We would just bring a towel to wipe off sweat, sunscreen, bugspray etc... Cold beer in...

Re: Climbing song
I think we should perform this song on stage at Rocktoberfest? I need back up singers, choreography, etc... I think the back-up singers could have a move during the chorus of chalking and shaking out one hand at a time

Climbing song
I wrote this song a few years ago when I was working on Mama Benson. Just found the lyrics on my computer--thought they were lost. The song goes to the music of Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up!" Enjoy :-) You’ve been to lots of crags Looked at all the climbing mags Listening to the O-Dub Miguel’s is th...

Re: gumby poop
Well, so far...3 rounds of scrubbing with antibacterial soap and 1 round of bleach--still smells like poop.

Re: gumby poop
I'm traumatized....my favorite northface shoes are ruined....the 5.9 there was actually pretty cool. The 10s and 11s were sandy, but ok.

gumby poop
It wasn't bad enough that my friend (we'll call him Olive), dragged me to Coyote cliff in 95 degree heat to climb a bunch of sandy, wet, choss piles....(he has to add to his tic list). But....the ignorant gumby who pooped on top of the leaves 20 feet from the steep routes really ruined my day. Spent...

Re: Decking at the Lode...
Man, these things really freak me out. My list of partners is narrowing each season. No SUMs and no. Cinches. Every single incident involving a gri gri or ATC had to do with pilot error. If there is ANY chance that a competent belayer could have their hand on the brake and deck me anyway....I'm not ...
