howie, wouldnt this negate every sport lin e in the red? i think all 1500 of them were rap bolted.

oh yeah, did i mention that the line in question is a sport climb, and the "preplaced" gear was a set of 10 draws? are we now saying the rules have changed as to who the fa belongs to?

great stuff guys! so larry just thinking Aloud here..in theory one could lead to within say 5-10 feet of the top of a pitch and fall. they would then lower and literally top rope all but that final section. this would give them the ffa yet some dude who fully top roped it the day before was not reco...

thanks guys...this really wasnt about trying to stir the pot ( not totally anyway). so in your case larry, those 4 top rope problems that you did the FA..am I to understand that your FA might have been with aid or at least a few hangs..and then you counted it as an FFA once it went clean even on top...

thats what i thought ...seems that sporties have no problem with fa's on pre placed gear...just curious why a gear climb might have seperate rules...

so there was no FA by climber 1 his first burn when he fell once on the gear? or climber 2 back roping clean?

and for the guidebook, do we list the fa as everyone else does or list the ffa that will get changed by god to be the fa later on?

Tbere is a very nice 45 degree slanting dibedral. The angle makes it very difficult to clean except on top rope. Climber 1 raps in and places gear on the way down to scrub the new line. Back on the ground, climber 1 pulls the rope and leads the pitch , falling once on his way to the chains. Climber ...

serious question..you guys really go out and rope climb without a partner..in 20 plus years of climbing it has never entered my mind. id just go bouldering or to the gym.
