Re: How to apply Fixed gear in the Red

Thanks for the props, but honestly speaking I wouldn't have made this poll had they not taken down the draws. I think we can use this opportunity to create a more respectful and safer climbing community and area. The more people who contribute their thoughts the better.

Re: PDs at Lode

I started a slightly different poll on the application of fixed gear over here: http://www.redriverclimbing.com/viewtop ... 69#p248269

Please contribute your 2 cents.

Re: How to apply Fixed gear in the Red

Apparently when I added a field to the poll it erased the previous votes.

How to apply Fixed gear in the Red

Hi All,

Rather than simply arguing a false dichotomy, lets vote to see where the community stand on the issue. Obviously this vote is non-binding, and you are able to change your vote anytime you like.

Re: PDs at Lode

Maybe we can postpone this Saturday night affair and combine it with some RRGCC meeting. That would give people time to create positive solutions to the issues in dispute, and let tempers simmer down so that we can work towards a win-win situation. I think it is possible that we can create greater r...

Re: PDs at Lode

Salutations,

Valid points exist on both sides. I'm interested in hearing them out. Please refrain from ad hominem arguments as they cloud the issues at hand. Likewise, appeals to authority carry no weight unless it is the authority of a property owner.

Re: PDs at Lode

I was among the climbers who removed the perma-draws from the undertow yesterday. I have been climbing at the RED longer than I haven't. I have made contributions to the RRGC, the perma-bolting fundraiser at Miguel's for the last two years, and give personally to the crags which i visit everyday I ...

Re: PDs at Lode

I wish the media would start hyping some other area for a while to take the heat off this joint. But the media is not to blame for the overpopulation of the Red. The Red is at fault. Ask any climber in America if they've heard of the Red and the New. They will say yes to both. So why are there 1000...

Re: Is it a send?

plenty of areas in Europe have only one anchor. What you think of them apples?

Most anchors are pretty arbitrary stopping points anyways...less we forget where climbing came from, a real send means standing on top of something.

Re: PDs at Lode

I'll gladly hang my own if it means a bit more peace and quiet, but the lode is so busy that people will maybe pile in regardless and the changing out of draws will just make waiting for a route longer... tough call. Who stripped them and for what reason? I wish the media would start hyping some oth...

Miguel's parking lot is pretty much always overflowing...It's pretty easy to find a partner and a ride to almost any crag. Now finding a partner that won't drop you...

Re: Someone dropped at the Lode....again

Have you used the Edelrid Eddy belay device? Expensive but pretty much idiot proof. My climbing partner has one which is the only experience I've had with it. http://www.edelrid.de/en/sports/products/hardware/eddy.html "A controlled descent with an emergency brake system eliminates the "panic pull“...

Re: Rockhouse Burglarized

Seems to me that a broken window or stolen wallet would be more inconvenient than emptying out your car before parking there. But don't take my word for it. isn't there a big picture lost in the trees here? Yeah, I was beginning to worry that it had been stolen. but then I found it. It looks like t...

Re: Rockhouse Burglarized

yeah, i don't want to hate but the 'don't leave stuff in the car' just doesn't seem possible for people from further away than a few hours. car camping is just too convenient for the logistics of a weekend. i'm cool with the rrgcc leaving it up to the g-men, but if they need a camera set up and cou...
