Re: Climbing Photo Thread V. III

I the last few pictures I see a rope coming up to you, but no gear on your harness or in the crack. Am I missing it?

Re: RRGCC Toilet Input Needed

Someone needs to do the Maths! # of Poos = (# of Visitors per year) x (% that have to go on a given day - % who will just go in the woods anyway) Area of Poo = Feet of Cliff Line x (100 Feet from Cliff - First 30 Feet from Cliff) Poo per Foot Ratio = # of Poos x 2 year max Poo Decomposition Time / A...

Re: Attention New School climbers

Aside from the superiority and anger in the OP, there are real issues that are highlighted by the busy season. We ALL should be practicing what we preach and gently passing on to those new to the outdoors, or those who may need a friendly reminder, the core messages in the following Access Fund init...

Re: Attention New School climbers

Agreed, but If you want to reach the New School Climbers, you might want to take a picture of your post and spray it on Instaspam, Farcebook, Snapcrack, and Tweeter.

Re: Climbing Wall "Epidemic"

I think it is mostly just funny.
You have rocks. What the hell do you need a rock climbing wall for? ...go outside and climb those rocks.
If the Uni's would stop putting in so many walls, maybe the crags wouldn't be so crowded. :)

Re: Climbing in KY State Parks

Which 'experienced' rock climber would go up there and fill out paperwork for a 30' TR? Ha, agreed. Still, I do wonder how this came about. Did the park management want to attract visitors? Were local teens already rappelling and top roping? I'm not expecting this to be the stepping stone to climbi...

Re: Climbing in KY State Parks

It seems small, but until this I am not aware of any climbing, trad, sport or top roping allowed in a KY state park. And, they even put in top rope bolted anchors.

Re: Free Lunch part 2 - May 30

We need an RRGCC monthly/quarterly email for this stuff. Not everyone checks this quasi-defunct forum or facebook daily. Plus this has been cancelled twice.

Re: MFRP + Muir Valley + ?

I think they actually did a good job of not characterizing climbing as a "State Park" activity. It is not listed under "Things To Do", the activity search does not include it and the "Red River Gorge Climbing" section is a pretty well balanced article listing the pros & cons of climbing with some re...

Re: State of Roads & Bridges - PMRP & Miller Fork

The road to Miller Fork is passable in a car. 4 wheel drive not required, but would be smart.

Question: Is the issue clearance or FWD? I have AWD, but not quite the clearance of a Subaru.
