The ongoing weekend idiot report
The ongoing weekend idiot report
Within one hour on Saturday at Muir, we saw the following:
1. People with a dog - "we didn't see any signs". Of course, there's a sign right as you pull into the lot.
2. Someone leaving the ground, falling a few feet off the deck, only to realize their knot wasn't tied.
3. Toproping directly through the anchors.
Two takeaways for all idiots:
1. Protect access by being respectful and following the rules.
2. Do your safety checks so you don't kill yourself.

I wouldn't call them idiots, but they should have known better...
Funk Rock on Saturday.
Guy decked from about 5-10 feet on Manic Impression after his belayer let the rope feed all the way through his gri-gri. Reminded them to always check that there is a knot in the end of the rope.
Later in the day, the same duo on Prime Directive. Guy hanging 10-15 feet from the deck with all the rope out and a knot against the gri-gri. He didn't deck this time but had to improvise to get to the ground.
Check your ropes...

Well, while we're all complaining I might as well gripe. Saturday at the Gallery. Not sure which was worse: the wannabe euro teenagers eating ramen noodles and chain smoking leaving their trash behind, the group who had rage against the machine blasting out from under mosaic, the 15 people who followed Lynn Hill around watching her climb every route or the train of folks toproping Zen to the 3rd bolt before falling off.

all you haters die slow.
Wow, what a bummer. I had a fabulous weekend in what seemed to be the best weather in 2009. The bar was set high for the season to come. Does not get much better than sunny, 75 and no bugs. I hope y'all at least had some fun despite the ill intentions of others.
