Dragon cams rock, they feel like BD; excellent quality and also a little lighter.

maybe it is because they are made in France where wages are higher than in China. I worked for my father during college and asked him one day how he could justify taking jobs from Americans by supplying American manufacturers with lower cost castings and parts from China. His response was that if the companies couldn't reduce their costs to they wouldn't stay competitive and the entire company would go down. Loosing some casting jobs saved other jobs. I am not an economist but there is some truth in what he said.
In BDs case, this was part of the motivation but another part is that BD is sold world wide, so why not produce things around the world? There is BD Europe and BD China is opening up climbing in China. I worked as an intern for BD and helped assemble a cam pull test machine to ship to China for their operations there so I am not just making things up. I worked with hardware so I don't know much about the soft goods or warranty which is what Joe had an issue with so I am not going to comment about it.
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.

It see,s the issues with BD may be resolved. I got an e-mail and they said they were going to fix everything. I should have my cam on the 13th and my pack on the 15th...we'll see.

just listened to a program on NPR about how iphones, ipads, HP laptops and a plethora of other elec gadgets are made by the same factory in China. Foxconn was the company name. Several companies make the components for the iphone, but Foxconn is by far the biggest "partner" wiht Apple. so if you are one of those in love with your I-whatever, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, ever complain about jobs going overseas. You are the problem.

What are you saying Kip? That if you buy something that is made in China that you can't complain about American production getting moved over-seas? I'm pretty sure thats a "straw man" arguement. I could be wrong, maybe its a "Red Herring"?...

The ODM's like Foxconn make most consumer electronics. Quite often there will be a partition between a team building i-whatever's and a team building your laptop or television. You want to talk about cut-throat. ODM's are working for razor thin margins on million piece orders. Some ODM's have made the jump to an OEM (HTC for example) when they establish enough internal expertise to design on their own.

I have had nothing but excellent service from BD with many, many interactions... both working for a dealer and as a private consumer. Sorry to hear you had problems Clevis. When they have made mistakes in the past, they were rectified very quickly. Hope things work out for you.
Honestly, I don't know many companies who are really consistent in their repairs/warranty departments... Some outfits are great at it, others are all over the place...

yup, they did everything they said they would... just it took months to consumate the deal. It took a thread on here and several emails with bad publicity to get these guys to act. They gave me some lame excuse about the warrantee stuff being in the pipeline but was stuck because of some clerical error. Over all I'd give them a C- . It took too long and was handed off to too many people to justify anything other than a failing grade. The only thing that made it passable was that they finally made it right.
