Bill is the Man. Really inspiring. He is the epitome of what a disciplined approach to climbng can do.

That magazine is the epitome of commercializing the outdoors. It's like a bunch of manufacturers got together and made a magazine so they could get people not only to buy some tripe publication, but also their merchandise. Garbage! I thought Climbing and R&I were getting bad.

You were right R& I and Climbing were getting bad, and repetitive and redundant, and ...

um, any one sport climbed lately..talk about a dumb and redundant pursuit...

move the bolts around, and give it a new name..and the outcome is the same...up 60 feet, and back to the dirt.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

i feel cool just to have climbed with someone who's on a mag cover. i have never read hooked but i got a knife from their booth at a canoe show for winning the pull up competition. they were saying at some of the biking events people would win with 8 pull ups

That's way worse than, say, some writers getting together some tripe publication (R&I and Climbing) to make money selling merchandise. You know, the magazine industry may not be the best place to look for altruism.

I've never read Hooked but how else do you expect magazines to get published?-- Via reader subscriptions? There's not enough money there to keep a publication going.

Granted, some go over bored but I suspect that those won't last long...unless what the reader really wants is just some climbing-gear porn.

If you haven't yet check out Alpinist. I think there is a total of 6 ads per issue. The down side is that is costs like $13 per issue and only comes out quarterly.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.

I was going to con't with saying that those who don't have as many ads must increase their cover price/decrease their releases. Simple S and D.

I enjoy R&I and Climbing as magazines.
However, the paper version of the NYTimes drives me nuts.
