Lean protein and hydration. (Skim milk works well.) Some initial rest and then carry on as usual until the next climb. (or other event)

Interesting. The article I read about Olympic teams switching to chocolate milk also mentioned that they eat peanut butter/honey sandwiches, which I might eat too much of already.

I am pissed about the chocolate milk thing because unscientifically I have been avoiding corn syrup in all its tricky forms. I was reaping the full 60% placebo effect from this and now you guys are ruining it.

Can do skim milk and a good dark chocolate square or two. I do not eat anything labeled high fructose corn syrup and also monitor any other form of sweetener as well whether it be from raw form or chemically created.

critically important not to believe everything you read in the "literature"... half of these studies are bankrolled by industry, especially when it comes to big-bucks stuff like HFCS and pharmaceuticals. a lot of scientific research out there is fundamentally corrupted.

True that! Look for independent peer reviewed articles that are and have been repeated and have stood the test of time. Everything else is just food for thought and to be taken with a grain (or more) of salt.
