Since this thread has drifted so far off topic I feel free to add this.

To me, there are only a few things that matter.

1) Be truthful to yourself and others about your climbing.
2) Strive for competence.
3) Try not to die or have anyone else die as you play this wonderful game we've chosen.

The first and second largely because of the third. And the third..., because there are almost certainly others who love you, no matter what you think of yourself, who would suffer unspeakable pain at your demise.

To suggest that anyone else is not a TRUE CLIMBER because they do not meet your personal definition is just nonsense.

Well said Mr. Day. If you have been following this (let's hope not) over the past few months, the whole notion of a "REAL" climber was meant tongue in cheek...if you think you are, then you are. no one has to define it for you. you'll know.

As you guessed, I haven't been following it. Though I thought you might be baiting just for the laughs, I couldn't tell for sure. Thus my somewhat serious comment.

yeah, pigsteak has been a persona for others to hate, so I kept him at his irrational best to stimulate conversation. I have decided to retire him at the end of this week.

You can not do this. Think of the children. I know it's time consuming to steer everyone in the proper direction, but your flock needs you.
