maintaining a hysterical perspective on Mr Ament one would should postulate his appreciation of traditional climbing and its influence on his thought processes

I agree. You aren't a twelve or thirteen or whatever climber until you onsight or do that grade in a day. Redpointing is sometimes bull. If you throw yourself at something obsessivly enough you just might do it. Once.

isn't that why it is an all out best day? isn't your very best effort in any aspect of your life something that you can not repeat on a consistent basis? nolan ryan threw the most no hitters ever, but I bet they accounted for less than 1% of his overall starts...lucky, obsessive bastard that he was. guess he wasn't really an all star pitcher anyway...

Maybe in your life. Consistent, is what makes you what you are. would you go to a doctor that wasn't consistent? Do you consistently hit the toilet in the dark. Do you please the missus.....consistently. A fluke is a fluke. Trust me at times they are great, but it's still a fluke. Nolan was Consistently a great pitcher.

i think this is why we have the questions "how hard do you climb?" and "whats the hardest you've climbed?" as two seperate questions. i guess this only makes me a 5.10 climber since those are the only ones in good style when i onsight
