Second Nature Wilderness Program

Post by kentuckysarah » Mon May 12, 2008 10:19 am

Come to Utah and work with me

This is an awesome company. It is a wilderness therapy program for teens 13-17 who have problems ranging from severe depression, drug use, anger, and some have been sexually abused. I am a field instructor, and my main role is to keep the kids safe (emotionally and physically), give them some structure and routine in their lives.

We also teach them hard skills, such as: knot tying, packing a backpack, busting a fire with a bow drill, etc. They learn soft skills and becoming vulnerable and expressing how they feel. Each group has a therapist who visits with the kids 2 days a week and stays in constant communication with the field staff and the kids' families. The students stay in the wilderness, while the instructors rotate out. The schedule is 8 days on and 6 off. Perfect for climbing trips or just to travel!

Great pay and benefits. Really cool coworkers.

Or PM me with any questions. I'll be in the field from Tues. 5/13 until the following Tues.

Thanks, Sarah
