One or two people asking to store things at a business location, sure. If you get friendly with the owner, they would do you a favor. But it is not a viable option for 100s and 1000s of people who go to the Red in season. No business has space to store even a dozen car's worth of camping stuff.milspecmark wrote:I dont want to name any names in particular, but I am sure many of the local business owners would be happy to let you store your "stuff" somewhere safe at there location.

I dont think there would be hundreds or thousands in a given day, but yeah, I see your point.
Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off
Last couple times ive been down to MFRP there has been a car stopped on the gravel hill with a man and a woman in it. Not sure if they are watching cover for something or what, but seemed kind of sketchy.

Ok, so the man and the woman duo seems like a trend.

Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off
Anyone have any further descriptions of this man and woman seen lurking around? My wife and I with our two dogs and two kids were at Indian Creek about a month ago. We were playing in the creek and then went for a walk down the road. A really beat up car that was spray painted black drove past our car really slow then drove up to us when they noticed that we were about 500 feet away. They had a bunch of old junk in the back seat and wanted to talk which made us nervous since we had not seen anyone else that day in the area. It was a man and woman and they kept asking questions about the construction on the 9B side and wanted to know where the road was closed and if anyone was back there or not and if they could turn around anywhere, I lied and told him that they were working down the bend and there was no place to turn around. We made an effort to keep walking toward our car and away from them and they turned around and sped off. Made us both very uncomfortable. My 3 year old son was on my back and was playing with my camera and managed to snap a few pictures of them, they're blurry but you can clearly see their car.

Heres the picture. Sorry if this is anyone on here, if it is then you should stop being a creep. I had no idea my son was even taking pictures till we got home and discovered about 200 pictures of the back of my head. This was on July 7th at 4 PM.

It's possible but not probable that this guy has anything to do with the break-in near PMRP recently. From a local standpoint Indian Creek is a long way from Bald Rock.

Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off
That's not the man I saw in the PMRP last Friday. he was older, heavy set - mid 50's. The woman was of undeterminable age with about 4 teeth total. brown hair, super thin, and shorter than the guy.
As for lockers - the Daniel Boone Trading Post may be interested in putting some in - or even Miguels, land or arches, and/or lindas... low tech coin ones would take about 400 uses for them to recoup the cost so it would probably only be good at high volume locations like Miguels. free ones might be better at daniel boone or bear tack to get people to come to businesses that climbers might not normally frequent.
An easier, low cost option is to make friends. Carpool 4 people to the crag in one car and lock everything in the other car at the place where you're camping or staying. It's good to have friends

Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off
That might be the couple I saw. The only thing I remember is the woman was painfully thin and might have had brown hair. It was a sunny day and they were walking in the shade along the top of Bald Rock Rd.
And I saw them somewhere before that because I recognized them, but can't remember where. Not at the trailer.

Re: PSA: The Crust is Coming Off
I'd suggest an old fashion stakeout. Grab a few burly sport climbers to hide in the bushes, wait for said suspect to come snooping around cars, snap a few pictures, call the police/tell the thief to piss off, and nip this problem in the butt secret agent style.
