Yep... In order to have everything you have to at least have the North, South and Miller which sucks. I was okay with two required Guidebook, but Three? Come on. Though the Miller guidebook is awesome.

Re: Does This One Make It Five Guidebooks?
Well, it was inevitable. It's one of the world's largest and most popular sport climbing areas so multiple guidebooks are required to detail every route. Otherwise you would have one gigantic book costing $100.00 and so heavy nobody would want to carry it around. That's why the Select "Best of the Red" guide is a good idea. This is a natural progression.

As long as this doesn't get in the way of releasing the annual spring, summer, fall, and late fall editions of the RRG South Guidebook I am all for it.

we'lll need to spend $80k a year to 'maintain' the southern region too.

My favorite is the locals who say they don't need a guidebook but frequent the online guidebook on this site.

the best thing about not owning guidebooks is you can claim an FA. this also brings full circle closure to the bolt fairy story. everyone lives happily ever after.

I like that it's (Best of the Red) the thousand route "Greatest Hits" which in my crusty old brain translates to: we left out all the trad.

Makes sense to me, if you're a local and already know the area you don't need the quarterly guidebook just the online updates for the newest routes.ray wrote:My favorite is the locals who say they don't need a guidebook but frequent the online guidebook on this site.
